About the Illwarra Community Language Schools

Community Language Schools are established by parents and teachers who have significant links with the communities who speak the language.

In general classes are conducted for school age students but some schools cater for adult learners as well. Languages are taught for 2 hours per week, outside school hours but during school term time.

In addition to language many schools offer tuition in cultural activities such as dancing and singing.

AICLS is an umbrella organisation which supports community language schools. It provides advice on applying for funding and professional development opportunities for teachers.
