Viva Festival and the Competition

Winners of the 2010 Students' Competition and other well done art works, will be displayed  as part of the Viva La Gong Festival in the children's performance area in the Pioneer Hall, Kembla Street, Wollongong. There will be a special presentation when the winners receive their prizes on Saturday, 6th November. Even if you didn't win, you might find your Art work displayed. So drop into Pioneer Hall on Saturday the 6th November.

2010 Funding

Funding Agreements for your 2010 Per Capita or Establishment Grants were posted to your organisation.
In the letter your organisation received:
- COMMUNITY LANGUAGES SCHOOLS PROGRAM - FUNDING AGREEMENT (2 COPIES)
- COMMUNITY LANGUAGES SCHOOLS PROGRAM CONFIRMATION OF COMMUNITY USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES
- 2010 PER CAPITA GRANT ACQUITAL REPORT

What you have to do:
1. Sign BOTH copies of the COMMUNITY LANGUAGES SCHOOLS PROGRAM - FUNDING AGREEMENT

2. Send BOTH copies to the Community Languages Schools Program

3. Take the form COMMUNITY LANGUAGES SCHOOLS PROGRAM CONFIRMATION OF COMMUNITY USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES to the Public School or High School offce and ask the secretary to get the principal to sign it and fax it to the Community Languages Schools Program.     
    You do not have to sign this form. It is different to the agreement you sign with the principal at the beginning of the year.

4. Keep the 2010 PER CAPITA GRANT ACQUITAL REPORT at a safe place and remember to fill it out at the beginning 2011.
    The funding is for the calendar year 2010 from 1.1.2010 to 31.12.2010.                 The ACQUITAL REPORT has to be send by 31st March 2011.
    You will NOT receive a grant for 2011, if you do not send the Acquital Report. Therefore it is important that you keep this form!

Funding Guideline - Funding Agreement

The 'Funding Guideline' is a document which states the criteria needed in order to be eligible for funding by the Community Languages Program (CLP).

The 'Funding Agreement' is a document of which 2 copies will be send to your Community Language School if your funding has been approved. Please sign both copies and return to CLP as soon as possible. When CLP have signed the 'Funding Agreement' as well, CLP will send you one copy back and also will send you your grant money.

Minister's Awards

The 2010 Minister's Awards for Excellence in Student Achievement (Community Languages Schools)

Congratulations to all high achievers to receive a 2010 Minister's Award.
The ceremony will be held at the University of New South Wales on Monday, 6th of September.

Queensland Introduces Mandatory Language Study

Queensland parents and educators have welcomed the State Government’s decision to make language studies mandatory for Year 6, 7 and 8 students.

Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson said on Saturday that 90% of state schools would teach languages for those years by the start of the 2011 school year – with the remainder of schools following in 2012.

Mr Wilson said the restoration of language studies would provide students with intellectual, social and cultural benefits.

Cringila Arabic School

Cringila Arabic School has moved to Illawarra Sports High School at Gura St, Berkeley.

Classes will be held at the usual times on Saturdays.

South Coast Chinese Language School opens at Stanwell Park

On the 7th May, 2010, 50 students from Stanwell Park Public School came together in the adjacent church hall to have their first Chinese lesson. Classes will be held every Friday morning before school. These classes have been organised in cojunction of the South Coast Chinese LanguagevSchool and the Stanwell Park P&C.
